Content writing services are available for area artists and other content creators and educators. I also write for businesses and organizations that serve those populations.  My areas of specialization are the arts, adult learning and education, low-income living, scam and hoax prevention and recovery, and other mental health topics....but if it is addressed in your art....I can write about it for you under the umbrella of "arts writing." Reach out to me about any written content you may need.

Teaching, tutoring, or coaching in writing and related skills is available for adults (18 and older) from the Utica area. Preference is given to those in the arts and/or post-secondary and adult education, but all reasonable requests will be considered.

Frequently asked questions:

1. What exactly are you offering to do?

I am a novelist, writing teacher, writing tutor, and content writer specializing in the arts, adult education, and mental health.

Content writing consists of providing written content for others to use on their website, social media site, in print, or in person. I can write articles, blog posts, evergreen content, skits, short fiction scenes for trainings and presentations, and other material. Each accepted order entitles you to two drafts of your project. If you require additional drafts, they will be considered additional projects.

Teaching, tutoring, and coaching in writing either means I am providing individual or small group instruction to you or your clients or serving as an adjunct faculty member at your college or university.

2. Why should I hire you to write when I can just use AI?

I fully understand that you can just use AI. I hope you understand that AI generated content is nearly always of lesser quality than content generated by a human being. A bot simply isn't capable of picking up on things like the tone of your voice or your word choice when talking about a population you feel called to serve, your passion for your project, or your frustration over an issue the way another human being can.  Hiring a person also means working with someone who cares about you and the success of your business, career, or project. Bots do not care whether or not the writing or coaching they produce serves you and helps you reach your goals. I do.

3. Can't I just do the writing myself?  Anybody can put words on a page.

Maybe. If you're also a writer, you certainly can do all your writing yourself. But do you want to? Hiring another writer to do things like write your bio for your band's page, write evergreen content for your business' webpage, or write an article for the company newsletter can save you time and energy you can spend on other things. If you're not a writer, you want to hire a writer for your written content for the same reason you take your car to a mechanic instead of looking up the problem on YouTube and trying to fix it yourself, save up to get your hair colored at a salon instead of buying a box of color at the drugstore, or...if you're a business owner...have your office cleaned instead of doing it yourself.

4. How much will this cost me?

Prices are listed above. Please reach out to me if there are any questions about pricing. I do plan to run regular specials and discounts, but they will not be listed on the page. Please reach out to me via email to learn about any current offers.

5. Are you going to try to sell me a course you created, claiming that I can make thousands of dollars every month self-publishing and freelance writing?

Absolutely not. I was a freelance news reporter from 2004-2017 and have been a freelance content writer off and on since 2017. Freelance writing is not a guaranteed path to riches, and there is no formula that can make it so. To make your living from freelance writing, you set your income goal, then network, cold email, advertise, and promote your writing until you secure enough client work to meet that goal, the same as you would need to do to establish a freelance practice that paid the bills in any other field.

6. Is there anything you won't write?

As a Christian, I will automatically reject anything that denigrates our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, promotes new age practices, encourages racism, homophobia, sexism against women or men, unfairly attacks or spreads misinformation about any group of people, or encourages any form of abuse or exploitation. Please do not ask me to write content that supports anything illegal. I will not help you cheat, whether that be in school by writing your papers for you, or on your romantic partner by writing you a personal ad. I reserve the right to reject projects for any other reason as well.

7. What if my website deals with NSFW (adults only) topics?

As long as the content, intended audience, and clients are all consenting adults, I will accept "not safe for work" assignments.  Discretion and respect are assured. I will never embarrass, judge, or "out" anyone for anything that goes on between them and other consenting adults, or for the content they create and market for consenting adults.

8. You mention singing on your "about" page. Are you available to sing at events?

Singing is as important to me as writing, but I do not sing professionally. It is a beloved hobby. If you want a professional singer, check out my husband's sections of this page.

9. Can you tutor my child or teen?

I am not currently offering tutoring services for children or younger teens. I do teach writing skills to adults, age 18 and older.

10. What are your qualifications as a writer and teacher?

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theater with a minor in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Literature and Writing. I have taught writing and related skills to adults for just over ten years and counting. Before becoming a writing teacher, I was a reporter for more than ten years. I also have some experience editing, tutoring children, blogging, and writing and self-publishing fiction, for a total of about twenty years paid writing experience as of 2025.

11. Are you looking for a full-time job?

No. Please don't send me job listings unless they are opportunities to join additional adjunct pools or material I can use to write for my blog or for yours.

12. I can help you put all that behind you! Would you like to learn how you can start your own business with my company?

I am already signed up to sell Avon as a personal use representative. If I decide to work in direct sales, I will begin actively selling Avon products.

13. I am interested in the content writing service you provide, but I don't want to pay for it. Can't you just do this for me? You love to write.

Your doctor hopefully loves medicine and helping people live healthy lives. The person who fixes your car has probably loved cars and working with their hands most of their life. If you get any type of professional appearance maintenance, the people who provided that are going to be huge beauty industry fans. You wouldn't think of walking out of your doctor's office without paying or handing them your insurance card so they can get paid. And I truly hope you're not the type of person to speed off from the mechanic or run out of a salon or barber shop without paying your bill. I wish we could all just do what we love for free and still survive and thrive, but that is unfortunately not the world we live in.

14. Do you offer anything for free?

You may help yourself to the articles in "The 315" free of charge, or for a tip if you wish. To get your free copy, simply copy and paste the article. All I ask is that you add a link back to our page.

15. I'm not trying to demand free things, but I am struggling, and I truly cannot afford to pay the fees listed. Will you accept what I can pay?

If you are struggling, reach out to be about any specials or coupons I may be running at the time.

16. How does the teaching, coaching, and tutoring work for individuals or businesses that are not colleges or universities?

That can be arranged according to your convenience and my availability. I can come to your place of business and provide in-person lessons or workshops. If you are an individual, we can meet in a public place. If you would prefer online tutoring, lessons, or coaching, I can provide that via email or chat. Please be aware that I will not come to anyone's private home, meet anyone in an isolated place or area, or give out my home address as a meeting place. Because I teach at area colleges and universities, I cannot meet individuals or small groups on any local campus for the purpose of teaching, coaching, or tutoring.

17. What's with all this "writing career" talk? Aren't you a teacher? Didn't I see you on campus at one of the local schools?

A huge part of my writing career is made up of teaching writing and related skills to other adults. Most of this work is done as an adjunct faculty member at some local colleges and universities. I am not a certified teacher and cannot teach high school or lower.

When you teach as an adjunct, you're kind of a weird cross between an employee and a freelancer or independent worker. On paper, when you enter a school's adjunct pool, they make you an employee. You get w-2 and w-4 tax forms. You get an employee ID, keys, access to office space, and some of the employee perks, depending on the school you're working for. You have to follow the same rules as any other employee. In other ways, you're your own boss. There is no long-term contract and no requirements to publish professional papers, so you are available to hire yourself out to two or even more schools at once, teach at one school one term and another two schools the next, all three or more the term after that, then back again, depending on what the rest of your workload looks like and what courses each school offers you. If you saw me on a local campus teaching a writing class, that means the school is a client and has added me to their adjunct pool and hired me to teach some writing classes for them.

18. What career and personal development courses are you working on?

I am currently developing non-academic, non-credit courses designed to help artists, educators, and other content creators. These courses will include lessons in non-writing topics you may want to write about, designed to help you shorten or launch your research without depending on sketchy AI bots. I will also include courses designed to boost or support your career. Any and all of these courses will also be suitable to be used as prompts or inspiration for writing or other artistic work. One special course for Christian writers will be designed for both research and writing inspiration and for outreach ministry.
